Saunderstown Wedding, Emily and Michael

This wedding was not work but a labor of love. I first met Emily at her sister Anne's wedding to Scott in 2009. Not only was she her sister's maid of honor, but she also helped coordinate the day's photography. So, I was pleasantly surprised when she contacted us last year to photograph her wedding to Michael. The wedding ceremony was held at Christ the King church with cocktails and the reception at her family home in Saunderstown. Faith Dugan brought her lifestyle approach (and I might add, a few caught moments) to round out the day's coverage. Exquisite Events made a year's worth of planning come together and Stoneblossom created the floral decor. Russell Morin Fine Catering was superb. The band Dezynel kept everyone on the dance floor and at times on the stage. Here are a few more images from the day...

Williamson StoryBook Arrives

This beautiful StoryBook just arrived from the binder. A unique departure from my usual designs, Blake and Nicole had a vision of full page vertical and horizontal two page spreads in mind when they selected their favorite images. The cover is "Cinnamon Spice Red" leather with a gold imprint. The result is just stunning and expresses their individual style.

Why Photography is not Brain Surgery.

We as photographers sometimes think what we do is so special. In this day of immediacy we shout  "look at what I did...look at this blog post...look this magazine that used my photos". On and on it goes.

What we really do at best is to record a moment in time that can be relived as the years go by.

When I look back at photos of my son growing up  as a child ( he is now 25 ), I can't help but remember exactly the emotions I felt at that time.

My mind "fills in the blanks" and the story is "re-played" in my mind.

I was reminded of this recently when a bride, whose wedding I second shot with Faith Dugan,
posted on Facebook that she felt nostalgic because her wedding anniversary was coming up.

I pulled these three photos from the wedding and emailed them to her. As I looked at the three images I selected, I noticed what was in common in all three. It was the relationship and connection that she and her mother shared throughout the day.

This is really what we do...capture moments that allow us to relive the story of the day.
