Window Light Portrait of Bride, NYYC, Harbor Court

A relaxed portrait Alex taken in the library of the NYYC, Harbor Court just before her wedding.  I like the way showing some of the environment enhances the mood and feel of this image.

Artistically Enhanced Image Example

I am often asked "what is an artistically enhanced image?". “Artistically enhanced” images are those edited selects that are given additional creative enhancements in post-production, that include my signature B+W conversions and painterly color enhancements. Here is a visual example...

Oceancliff Wedding, Caitlin and Alex

Here are a few of my favorite images from Caitlin and Alex's Oceancliff wedding last weekend. As you can see, they had a good time!
A friend of the bride's is a shoe designer, who personalized her wedding shoes.
Mother of the bride attaches the bride's veil.

Cake by Newport Sweet Shoppe.
"Splash" the band had the guests dancing all night.
Impromptu "Hora" surprised the groom.
The guests tied dinner napkins together to make a jump rope. The groom and his father catch some air time.
End of the reception and still rocking the dance floor.

LegacyBook Sample Spread

This is a wonderful example of a narrative spread from a LegacyBook that I am designing. It shows in a series of images of the best man delivering and the bride opening a present from the groom on wedding day. I love the emotions in this spread.

Castle Hill Inn Bride Portrait

Window light is my favorite way of using natural light to create a portrait with mood and drama. This image of Holly was taken at the bottom of the stairs in the Chalet at Castle Hill Inn.

Portfolio Image

One moment, one shot. Serendipity plays an important part of the wedding day coverage. I started photographing Jessica, as she was helped into her dress, from behind her (see previous post) using the window for back light and a view of the back of the dress. I started looking for a better angle from the side and this moment presented itself. Beautiful light, expressive gestures and very natural. A portfolio winner!

Castle Hill Inn Wedding, Jessica and Deepak

Part 3, the wedding day! Yes, it rained. Fortunately, the ceremony was held outside between showers. The rain held up enough for us to get some photos at the Lighthouse. Jessica and Deepak selected the following vendors: Hair and makeup by Allison Barbara, Flowers by Semia, Henna by Manisha Hennacafe, Villa One Twenty, the band Cover to Cover, and just for fun Flip Book City. The talented Jaclyn L photographed the "guys", all the wonderful details and some nice moments. What a unique opportunity it was spending the wedding weekend with these two families.

Even the cake had a Henna theme.

Three Generations

I love an image that says family and generations. This is from Jessica's wedding and is symbolic of three generations: Jessica, her mom and her grandmother. I think it speaks volumes and will be treasured in years to come.

Annamarie + Frank, Castle Hill Inn, Newport, RI

Annamarie and Frank wanted their wedding day to be about not only their commitment to each other but about two families becoming one. They grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same High School. They each married other people and had families. After becoming single again they reunited and rekindled their love for each other. Two great Italian families have now become one big family. Here is their slideshow...

Review

A Wedding Wire Review from our bride Betsy...

“I would highly recommend Peter to anyone planning a wedding. He came recommended
to us through our wedding planner as well as through friends who had used him before.

I am so happy we chose him. Peter and his wife, Greer, who runs the studio were
wonderful from start to finish. We met with them both about a year before the wedding to
go over what we were looking for and our hopes for the types of photos and final product
we would have. They were very receptive to our thoughts and offered their experienced
opinions.

Peter documented our wedding perfectly, not missing anything! It’s amazing that he was
able to do so, when for much of the night I didn’t even realize when he was photographing.
He was so professional and had a very calming demeanor (a great attribute given that in
the hours leading up to your wedding it can start to feel a bit hectic)!

Peter and Greer were a pleasure to work with - if I had to do it all over again, I’d pick
them every time!”
